前回の続き。Carbonetworksという会社に焦点を当てながら、Green Softwareについて少し調べてみました。

    • Carbonetworksは、温室効果ガスの排出状況を示し、削減活動を管理するためのアプリケーションを提供している。
    • 例えば、これを導入した企業は、削減目標を達成するために、データセンターのオペレーションを効率化したり、他社から排出権を購入したりする。
    • この記事が書かれた当時は、欧州以外の地域で炭素排出規制が実施されている地域は少なく、ほとんどの企業は、排出削減の義務を負っていなかった。
    • しかし、近い将来、こういった規制は現実化する見込みなので、CarbonetworksのCEOは、この会社のソフトウェアへの需要は高く、規制が敷かれるまでに時間がかかったとしても、それを待つ価値があると言っている。

大企業による取り組みだけでなく、今回のようなStartUpにも注目してみると、いろいろな事例が出てくることに気付きました。自分ならどうするか、というアイデアを練りつつ、さらに調査を進めてきたいと思います。
